OSSM

The Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics (OSSM) was created through legislative action in 1983 and graduated its first class of 44 seniors from across the state in 1992. OSSM is open to all Oklahoma students who are entering their junior year of high school. Applications are due in March of the sophomore year.
 
The mission of the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics is:
 
  • To foster the educational development of Oklahoma high school students who are talented in science and mathematics and show promise of exceptional development through participation in a residential educational setting emphasizing instruction in science and mathematics.
  • To develop, evaluate and foster science and mathematics instructional programs.
  • To serve all schools and students of Oklahoma through research, teacher training and outreach activities.
 
OSSM currently has 14 regional centers located in local areas of Oklahoma, and these regional centers are housed on CareerTech campuses affiliated with the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education.   The primary focus of the OSSM regional centers are AP Calculus AB and BC and AP Physics C Mechanics, and these classes are currently offered at the ICTC-Stilwell and Tahlequah campuses.  For more information regarding OSSM, contact Amanda Butler or Gil Brown at 918-456-2594 or 918-696-3111 or [email protected] or [email protected].
